ITINERARY

27 Dec

21:40: Overnight flight to Bogota.
Get to the airport in good time, coz you'll have access to the Business class lounge.

28 Dec

Accommodation: Binn Hotel (breakfast included)

03:40: Land in Bogota.
- You have a 1.5 hr layover, then connecting flight to Medellin.
06:33: Land in Medellin.
- When you, a driver (tbc) will meet you at arrivals and take you the hotel (approx 30 mins).
09:00: Arrive at hotel.
- Given your landing time, bags and taxi, I reckon you'll arrive at the hotel at around 9am.
- You can check in early, but it costs 50% of a night and is depending on availability. Failing that you can drop your bags and go and explore.

Morning/Afternoon options:

I've heard that Medellin is best enjoyed by wandering around, enjoying restaurants and exploring outside. It's Colombia's 2nd largest city and is known as the "City of Eternal Spring."

Head to Pablo Escobar Museum: 10 mins walk from your hotel
- This is an unofficial museum with loads of artefacts and info on Pablo Escobar.
Walk down town to Plaza Botero:
- A park filled with the famous statues of Fernando Botero.

14:30: Free Walking Tour (downtown Medellin): approx 3.5 hrs (10am or 2:30pm)
- Explore historic districts, hear stories and get to know the city's history.
- I've booked the 2:30pm tour.

29 Dec (Happy Birthday Munz!)

Accommodation: Binn Hotel (breakfast included)

Address: Carrera 25 #10-51, Transversal Superior, Medellín, Antioquia.

The "thing to do" in Medellin is go to Comuna 13. It was once the most dangerous part of Medellin (in the narco days), but has been transformed with community projects into an artsy neighbourhood with tonnes of graffiti. Read more about it here.

08:45: Head to Comuna 13 walking tour (it'll take about 45 mins to get there in an Uber)
09:30: Comuna 13 Walking Tour & Street Food: approx 3 hrs
- Group tour of Comuna 13 neighbourhood, learning about how the neighbourhood revamped itself.
- Tour is with other folk and starts 9:30am.

Guatape is a small Andean village about an hour outside of Medellin. Everyone seems to do day trips there to enjoy the colourful streets, the views and climb up the "Piedra del Peñól" - basically a giant rock. Tap here to learn a little bit more about it. Photo below of the rock is Guatape!

Guatape & El Peñol Tour: whole day (approx 9 hours)
- Tour leaves art 07:00am and includes transport, guide and lunch.

09:00: Head to airport. Trip takes 30 mins approx, but maybe double check this departure time with hotel.
11:54: Depart Medellin.
13:02: Arrive Cartagena.
14:30: Arrival at hotel
- Given landing time and bags, I reckon you'll arrive at hotel by about 14:30.

Get to your hotel, go for a walk, relax and then get ready for your NYE Dinner at:

20:00: El Baluarte
- Dinner and tickets include welcome cocktails & snacks, gala dinner, dessert table, sparkling wine for the midnight toast, grapes and party favours.

1 Jan

Things to do: Explore the old town on a walking tour.

2 Jan

Accommodation: Sofitel Baru
Address: Km 7 Sector, Cartagena de Indias, Provincia de Cartagena.

To get to your next hotel you've got to get a boat at either 10am or 3pm
My suggestion would be to check out at 11am then do something in Cartagena town. Maybe a walking tour or explore a bit more, coz once you're at the Sofitel Baru hotel it'll just be beach and relaxing.

2- 5 Jan (3 nights)

This is an hour drive from Cartagena and it'll give you some decent beach time. I've not organised any trips or activities so I'll let you both coordinate that when you arrive.

Things to do: snorkelling, boat trips and relaxing on the beach.
