A Namibian Roadtrip
An archipelago of over 5,000 islands, dotted with spewing volcanoes, brimming with tropical rainforests and home to the second longest coastline in the world, Indonesia makes for quite the destination. Home to over 300 hundred distinct ethnic groups that speak their own unique language, this Southeast Asian paradise is a pandoras box of cultural wonders waiting to be explored.
What's so unique about our Namibia trip? It's a one-of-a-kind adventure, specifically crafted by Travis & Ross to bring you face to face with a bunch of Indonesia's delights. On our 10 day trip, we'll be travelling through the provinces of East Java & Southern Kalimantan, offering a unique insight into Indonesian culture. From the slopes of Mount Semeru in East Java to the Orangutans in the jungles of Kalimantan, we'll be exploring some incredible locations and we want YOU there with us!
What does Namibia have to do with us? Well, Travis lived in Indonesia for just under three years in a tiny village in East Java, which means his local knowledge is pretty top notch. Having lived and worked there for so long, he's got a unique perspective on the country, not to mention the fact that he speaks Bahasa Indonesia (the National Language of Indonesia). Ross, on the other hand, just really likes tempeh (fermented soya beans) and recently discovered his love for it whilst scoping out this Trip in September 2018. Ok, on a serious note, Ross found his love of Indonesia through Travis' endless Indonesia-focussed conversations and his recent bagpipe-related trip there. If you're thinking "eh, bagpipes?!" yup! Ross is aiming to play the bagpipes in every country of the world and Indonesia was country number 85!

DAY 01: Arrive in Windhoek
Arrive in Windhoek and be shuttled to your hotel for the night. Come together in the evening for a welcome dinner where you'll have the chance to meet everyone, hear about the itinerary, and have a crash course in some Namibian history and culture.
- Overnight in Windhoek
- Dinner included
DAY 02: A Namib Desert Sunset!
We'll hit the road just after breakfast and make the approximately 4-hour drive to the Namib desert; count on plenty of stops along the side of the road to stand in amazement of the red colored dunes! After checking into our hotel, there'll be some time to relax, enjoy the scenery, go for a short hike, or swim before we get ready for a stunning sundowner drive to cap off our evening. Once we return to our lodge, we'll end the night with a delicious dinner underneath the night sky and maybe meet some night time animals (keep an eye out for porcupines!).
- Overnight at Namib Desert Lodge
- Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
DAY 03: Sossusvlei
We will start the day before the sun to make sure we get to Sossusvlei before the heat burns the dunes and our feet! This might be one of the most remarkable experiences of your life, so be ready to be stunned. Once we enter the park, we will take the short drive to one of the tallest dunes in the world and come close to the dead trees that are hundreds of years old! Before making our way back to our Lodge, we will stop by a famous apple pie shop to relax (yes, in the middle of the desert), and reflect on what we just experienced! The afternoon and evening will be spent relaxing by the pool and having another delicious meal under the stars.
- Overnight at Namib Desert Lodge
- Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
DAY 04: A Step into German History
Taking your time waking up, after lunch we will hit the road for a 4-hour drive to the coast. Since Namibia is the size of Texas, the distance between locations is quite long, so we will split up the trip to the North by stopping in Swakopmund for the night. A tiny city on the coast that feels like you're in Germany, we will have the chance to explore on your own, put your feet in the Atlantic Ocean, and maybe find yourself a German pretzel. We will call it an early night so we can be ready for the second portion of the drive, where we might see some wild animals along the way!
- Overnight in Swakopmund
- Breakfast & lunch included (you'll need to buy your own dinner!)
DAY 05: A Sunset Safari
Jumping in the car after breakfast, we will make the 5-hour drive to Etosha National Park where we will get to experience our first, of a few, safaris! After checking into our Lodge, we will grab our binoculars, cameras, and put some sunscreen on as we jump into our jeep which will take us into the park; fingers crossed we see loads of elephants and lions! Once we return, and if we are lucky, we will have our dinner while the Etosha Boys perform some incredible music (and maybe Ross will play the bagpipes alongside them!).
- Overnight Etosha Safari Camp
- Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
DAY 06: An African Safari
Once we've all had our breakfast, we will grab our things as we head off for an all-day safari through Etosha National Park! To split up the day, we will have a siesta mid-day where we will get to eat in the National Park (don't worry, we will be in a caged off area). After a surprisingly exhausting day, we will end by relaxing at our Lodge listening to music and eating some delicious food.
- Overnight at Etosha Safari Camp
- Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
DAY 07: A Peaceful Evening Along Angola

To split the long drive to the Okavango Delta, we'll spend a relaxing evening and night on the border of Angola! If the river is dry, you may even see folks walking across the border to go shopping in Namibia! We will end the night with a delicious meal and in your bungalow listening to the crickets and birds.
- Overnight in Hakusembe River Lodge
- Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
DAY 08: Sleeping Among the Lions
We will hit the road early so we can spend as much time in Namushasha as possible! The lodge we will be staying at overlooks a field of untouched land and if you are lucky, you'll be able to hear a lions roar in the distance! We will end the day with an unforgettable Sundowner Boat Cruise; potentially sipping on wine with a family hippo in the distance wanting to join in!
- Overnight at Namushasha River Lodge
- Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
DAY 09: Hungry Hungry Hippos
Sleep in and grab yourself a delicious breakfast before we spend part of the day on a boat cruise and game drive. Dodging a pod of hippos on our boat, we will make it to land where we will jump into a jeep to go on a safari; fingers crossed we find a parade of elephants by the water hole! End the evening relaxing
- Overnight on Houseboat
- Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
DAY 10: From Namibia to Zambia
Breakfast and an early morning flight to Southern Kalimantan. Upon landing, we will be picked up by a taxi and taken to our houseboat on the Kumai River, where our jungle cruise through the Tanjung Puting National Park begins! As we drift down the river towards a well-known orangutan feeding station, the cooks will prepare lunch, which will be eaten on the top deck of the boat. Once we've had our fill, we'll be able to witness orangutans having theirs. End the day with a candlelit dinner in the middle of the jungle.
