ITINERARY

On the right you'll find a rough idea of what you're up to each day. Tap on the on the day and you'll be taken down the page to a more detailed daily schedule. This will include times, contact numbers and addresses of places you'll be staying.

To give you an idea of the places you'll be visiting, the map below has a few pin points to show the locations.

Daily Schedule

28 Dec: London to Cancun

Flight Number: BA2203
Class: World Traveller Plus
10:45 am departure from London Gatwick (South Terminal)

16:45 pm arrival at Cancun International Airport (Terminal 3)

When you land in Cancun, you'll go through immigration, pick up your bags and then head through customs. Once through, you'll get to the arrivals hall where your driver will be picking you up and taking you to your Valladolid. The drive is approx 2 hours.

In Valladolid, you're staying at the Hotel Refugio 41 (details below) for the next two nights. If there are any issues with directions, tell the driver to call the hotel. If you need to jump on Google, tap the link below and it'll open up Google Maps.  Just so you can visualise where you're going (and know you're in the right place!) photos of the hotel are in the gallery below.

Although this was booked on Airbnb, it is a hotel so there will be someone there to meet you. I don't anticipate you arriving until about 8:30pm, at the earliest, so you might want to grab on the way to the hotel or perhaps once you arrive. Unfortunately the hotel doesn't have an on-site restaurant.

29 Dec: Chichén Itzá & Valladolid

Happy Birthday Munz!

This morning you could perhaps head to Chichén Itzá. Given that this is one of the "New 7 Wonders of the World" it will get busy (and hot) so I suggest you head there for just before 8am, when the gates open. It's about a 45 minute drive from where you're staying, so a 7am departure is a good idea.

Most people spend about 3 hours at Chichén Itzá. Its a big complex with lots to see and learn, but most people head for the iconic Temple of Kukulkan to get that all famous shot. You'll have a guide that takes you around for, before letting you do your own thing.

Once you're done in Chichén Itzá, at about 11:30, you'll grab lunch nearby before heading to the Yokdzonot Cenote. This is about 30 mins from Chichén Itzá in a small town. After you've had a dip, you'll head back to Valladolid.

I reckon you'll get back to Valladolid at around 4pm so you could relax a bit before heading to dinner. I've found a few restaurants to go:
Ix Cat Ik: Mayan Restaurant, not super fancy, but is voted as one of the Valladolid Classics
El Meson del Marques: Classic Mexican food in a lovely space.
Yakunaj Cocina Mexicana: Family restaurant, with great Mexican food, just 5 mins walk from hotel.

30 Dec: Valladolid to Wakax Hacienda

Yesterday was a bit of a mad day so I'm sure you want a lie in. A continental breakfast is served at 8am, so you could relax, grab some food, relax by the pool and then head out on a short morning tour of Valladolid. Check out is 12 noon.

Once you're all checked out, you could have lunch in Valladolid and then head to Tulum (Wakax Hacienda) The drive is about 1 hr 45 mins and check in isn't until 3pm.

Wakax Hacienda has a wellness spa, with a sweat lodge experience (?!), two cenotes and a lovely restaurant. Maybe on your first night you could hang out here and enjoy the space. Tap HERE to see what they've got in the hotel to get an idea of what it's like, and perhaps have a look at their Instagram (it looks amazing!). Gallery below shows some the hotel and grounds.

31 Dec: New Years Eve

I'm sure you'll also want to relax this morning and enjoy the space. Whether its a massage or sweat ceremony (?!) or some cenote exploring, the hotel looks like a great place to explore and relax.

I've not yet looked up restaurants in and around Wakax Hacienda as I've prioritised New Years Eve stuff, but with that in mind some plans for the evening:

Wakax Hacienda NYE
I've been in touch with the hotel and they say they have a special dinner, live music and a DJ coming in. No more details yet but they said they'd update me.

Papaya Playa Project NYE Party
Apparently this lot put on the biggest NYE party each year. This year they have a NYE Dinner & Party with music from Goldcap, Sainte Vie (live), Niki Sadeki (no idea who any of them are!). Dinner starts 6:30pm and music starts 10:00pm. Tough ticket price is at least £320 per person, but I can't find exact ticket prices, coz you have to join a FB group and then get a special code, to find out.  Not gonna lie, this place sounds hectic and a bit wanky (given the reviews!). More info HERE.

Gitano Beach NYE Party
Another Tulum NYE favourite. Conde Naste vited this as one 2022's best beach clubs. It's also one of the top restaurants in Tulum (apparently) and they put on a show for NYE. Tickets between £160-£400 depending on what you go for. More info HERE.

You might want to just check out event bright for different events on. The links above will take you there!

1 Jan: Tulum New Years Day

No doubt this will also be a bit of lie in day. New Years Day on January 1st is a National Holiday so I wouldn't expect there to be too many things open. Perhaps another day to relax and enjoy the hotel or head to a beach restaurant.

I'll find out what else is open in Tulum, perhaps somewhere for lunch or dinner. Maybe you guys have some places you'd want to head to.

Last thing to note is that this'll be your last evening at Wakax Hacienda.
